The Faculty of Dentistry at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) is the premier center for specialized dental education, advanced oral healthcare, and maxillofacial research in Bangladesh. It is dedicated to training elite dental specialists, providing tertiary-level oral health services, and conducting clinical research in dental sciences. Core Departments Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery: Focuses on surgical management of oral cancers, facial trauma, jaw deformities, cleft lip/palate, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics: Specialized in root canal therapy, esthetic restorations, micro-endodontics, and operative dentistry. Prosthodontics: Dedicated to oral rehabilitation, dental implants, crowns, bridges, and removable or fixed dentures. Orthodontics: Specializes in correcting malocclusions, facial dentofacial orthopedics, and alignment using modern braces and clear aligners. Paediatric Dentistry: Focuses on preventive, restorative, and surgical oral health care tailored for infants, children, and adolescents. Key Responsibilities & Functions Postgraduate Residency Training: Conducts advanced residency programs (MS in Dental Specialties) to train academic dental surgeons and clinical specialists. Specialized Clinical Services: Operates comprehensive outpatient departments (OPD), advanced dental imaging, and specialized surgical suites. Community & Preventive Dentistry: Promotes oral health awareness, early detection of oral pre-cancers, and community preventive programs. Research & Innovation: Advances clinical studies in biomaterials, oral pathology, maxillofacial reconstruction, and dental implantology.
